The Clay County Bar Association, Inc. was formally organized in 1973. Many of you have seen the first known photograph of the Bar Association, taken in front of the historic Clay County Courthouse on Walnut Street in Green Cove Springs, Florida. The photo now hangs in the Clay County Judges' Chambers. The founding members in the picture are as follows: Top row, left to right: Richard Cobb, Tom Headley, Frank Scruby, Jim Yonge, Berwick Anderson, Nat O'Kelly, Paul Newall, Jim Norton, Tom McAnally. Front row left to right: Gene Durrance, Larry Smith, Bill Hester, Jim Arnold III, William Wilkes, Judge Marion Gooding, Bob Head, Judge Tom Rivers, Myron Prevatt, Sr. , Myron Prevatt, Jr., John Kopelousos
To ensure continuous existence and prompt filing of our annual corporate report with the Division of Corporations, David A. King has served as our Registered Agent since 1986. Our Board is now made up of a rotating group of volunteers from the Bar, who give up their time, and often their money, to see that we keep rolling along as a small county bar association.
Our focus this year will be to vision, plan, and prepare for our future role in this rapidly growing county.
